Archbishop Ntihinyurwa Launches 3rd Phase of Construction of Regina Mundi Church

KIGALI-Archbishop Thadee Ntihinyurwa of the Archdiocese of Kigali, this Sunday, June 17, 2018, has launched the third phase of the construction of the Regina Mundi Catholic Church located in Kibagabaga, in District of Gasabo of the City of Kigali.

The church will have the capacity to host 3000 people and it is expected to be completed at the end of this year 2018 and its official use will start at the beginning of the year 2019.

In an interview with Topafricanews.com, Habimana Aime, Construction Engineer for this Church explained that “We started Construction Works in 2016.  Before, we had to use a church that only accommodate 300 people. As Kibagabaga expanding, the number of Christians also is increasing. It is planned that this church will have the capacity of 3,000 people. ”

To date, the total amount of money spent on the construction works is 109 million Rwandan francs. At its completion, the total amount will be about Rwf 350 million, as Ir. Habimana explained to our website.

Where will this sum of money come from?

Father Ntabyera Charles of the Regina Pacis Parish explained that “We are doing all of these works because of the contribution of all Church members”, of course, Christians.

“Everyone gives what He has. There are those who contribute Cement Sacs, bricks, money and even manpower. “He said

“With the Grace of the Virgin Mary we are sure that at the end of this year this Church will be complete.”

As the contribution of Today, the Christians have immediately contributed six million Rwandan francs among  them are promises made by various Christians both personal and in Groups.

In his speech to the Christians after Mass at this construction site in Kibagabaga, Bishop Ntihinyurwa Congratulated all members of the Church, adding that it is surprising to see this good initiative of the church which is in the good direction.”
“I really thank you for your work. When I arrive here this morning I realized that this place has really changed. I remember Last year when I was here again, we only had the foundation that was not complete. But Today look where we are! It’s really a very good step.”

Ntihinyurwa has promised that the Archdiocese of Kigali will give its contribution so that this Church will be available by Christmas Day of this year.

The Coordinator of Fundraising Ceremonies revealed that “This Church must be among the Seven Wonders of the city of Kigali.”

With 2000 Frw and more, you can also contribute your role so that this Church will be complete as planned. The buildings of this Church are in Kimironko Sector, Known as Centrale Kibagabaga in Regina Pacis Parish.

It was revealed at Today’s Congregation that From Now on this church is called Kibagabaga Regina Mundi Catholic Church”
