Hope of Family Pilot Project to be replicated to 100 Families in Muhanga

Hope of Family Project started since 2016 as a pilot project targeting the poor communities living in Shyogwe Sector of Muhanga District, southern part of Rwanda.

Five families have been benefited from this project named Hope of Family “Icyizere cy’Umuryango” in Kinyarwanda.”

The project showed the positive impact to the social economic life of the beneficiaries as the testimony shows.

Mukanubaha Redampta lives in Kabungo Village, Kinini Cell in Shyogwe Sector.
She “I was very poor. My husband died and I should do everything possible to feed my children. ”

She explained “It’s since last year that Hope of Family came to our village, and they chose poor families and I was selected among them.

“In the first place they asked us to attend community reading class at the same time encouraging us to regularly visit our children at school.”

The primary goal of Hope of Family is to promote parental involvement in their children education while improving families’ socio-economic status. Families and Hope of Family staff agree on the contract terms to sign in order to effectively support their children and raise their school performance. Parents agree to visit their children on the weekly basis, provide more after-school time for their revision, respond sooner to teacher’s or any other school leader’ invitation to discuss about the child’s learning.

According to Aimable Mpayimana, Founder and Executive Director of Hope of Family, this organization targets low-income families identified alongside with the local administration   for the timeline of two years.

On Saturday 13th October 2018, TOPAFRICANEWS met the Founder and beneficiaries living in Muhanga and had the following Interview in this video.

Hope of Family Organization wants to replicate the project to 100 families in Muhanga District.

Mpayimana said “After realizing the positive impact of the pilot project, we decided to increase the number of beneficiaries from five to 100 families.”

This week the Organization’s administration met local leaders in Muhanga District to discuss the implementation stage which is going to follow by the end of this year.

100 families will benefit from various initiatives such as school materials, talent detection among children from poor families, training beneficiaries on various income generating activities, Community Literacy program, farmer feed school, Health Insurance payment, Sanitation facilities, One cow per poor family, rehabilitation of houses, Helping families to have Kitchen garden and designing and launch of development project that will benefit at least 20 poor families.

Muhanga officials welcomes this initiative as it will help to improve living conditions among communities.
