PHOTOS: Peace and Hope Academy holds graduation for Nursery Leaving Children

The Peace and Hope Academy which locates in Kinyinya, Gasabo District held its annual graduation ceremony for TOP class children who are now ready to start the P1 class in the year 2019.

The Graduation ceremony which took place on Friday 16th November 2018, was graced by various officials include officials from the Ministry of Education, the Executive Secretary of Kinyinya Sector, parents and other guests from various sectors.

The Peace and Hope Academy Legal representative, Albert Musabyimana said “In past years we have been struggling to set up required infrastructures for quality education, but this time we are celebrating because we are now at the advanced level comparing with the past two years.”

The school started as a Kindergarten in 2012 mainly focusing on Genocide Survivors families.

It is at that time the school was launched as the Kuraneza Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre with 48 vulnerable Kids from child-headed households most of them were orphaned by the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis.

Today the school has 150 students which include those in Nursery school and others studying in P1 to P3.

The Peace and Hope Academy plan is to extend its premises to be able to serve over 400 children from different parts of Kinyinya sector with special targets to children from Murama and Gasharu cells.

Addressing the parents at the ceremony, Musabyimana said “We are very glad to announce that the Ministry of Education has now given us permit to officially establish the Primary level school. This means that Peace and Hope Academy is officially permitted to provide Education services from Nursery to Primary school.”

He revealed that “Next year we will start the P3 class.”

This year 15 students finish the P2 waiting to start the P3 next year at the same school.

“Our children will no longer need to relocate to other schools, because now we have a Primary. We are planning to extend even to the secondary level and you parents will play a role in continuous education of our children.”

He commended 28 children who graduated from the TOP class of Nursery level while at the same time recognizing the role of stakeholders in the moving forwards of the Peace and Hope Academy.

He acknowledged the Rotary Club  for the continuous support and the Government of Rwanda for healthy and secure country where children are having access to education equally.

The Executive Secretary of Kinyinya Sector, Umuhoza Rwabukumba congratulated the school for its contribution to the education sector especially for helping parents to have a nearby school where they can enroll their children.

Umuhoza said “Really this is a very good initiative for our citizens. The school is not only serving children but also it has created employments for teachers and other who are working daily to make sure that it is moving from one level to another.”

Rwabukumba urged parents to play their role in the education of their children in order to prepare them for a better future.

As guest of Honor at the event, Paul Masterjab, advisor in the Rwandan Ministry of Education highlighted the importance of helping needy people.

Tonton Paul as he calls himself narrated how Rotary Club, to which he is a senior member, has started with very small services to needy people and now it has grown with branches worldwide.

He told parents that “The founder of Peace and Hope Academy has proved to have humanitarian character and that’s why Rotary club has been supporting him and it will continue to do so.”

Rotary Club has been supporting Peace and Hope Academy since the beginning; however Rotarians also support other initiatives country wide.

Paul told parents to always support those who are in need so that they will leave a good testimony once they departed from this world.

He promised that the joint collaboration between Rotary Club, Peace and Hope Academy and parents will be strengthened to enable the school meet its goals.

“Let all play our role in educating our children. We are all stakeholders in this work. None can work alone let’s support each other to inherit our children a better future.” Paul urged.

Peace and Hope Academy locates in some Kilometers from the City of Kigali to Kinyinya, near the former compound of Radio Deutsche well, almost 3 KM from NYARUTARAMA Road, there is a Primary School and Kindergarten named Peace and Hope Academy.
