The Secretary General of La Francophonie met for the first time all OIF staff in Paris on January 08, 2019.

Louise Mushikiwabo first reminded staff based in Paris and in the field of the five continents that the values of La Francophonie remained more relevant than ever: ” The Francophonie must take full possession of its role on the international scene. It must become more relevant, and above all, in prominence “.

Wishing to be part of the continuity of its predecessors, the Secretary General said she wanted to “give more substance to Francophone solidarity” and bring “an adjustment that meets the challenges of the present time”.

The French-speaking world must, according to her, “take full possession of its role on the international scene” .

In this perspective, Ms Mushikiwabo presented the priorities of her tenure at the head of the OIF for the next four years, highlighting four challenges that the Organization should address: that of relevance, affirming the added value OIF and ensuring a balance between its role in the international arena and its projects on the ground; that of Youth and through it the future of the French language; that of the attractiveness of the Francophonie as a tool of development for the countries of the South and lever of growth for those of the North; and finally that of equality, in the wake of the adoption at the last Francophonie Summit of the Strategy for the Promotion of Equality between Women and Men.
