DRC-Rwanda: Tête-à-tête Kagame-Tshisekedi

On the sidelines of the Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, Felix Tshisekedi, President of the DRC and 2nd Vice President of the African Union, holds meetings in Ethiopia.

Felix Tshisekedi continues his stay in Addis Ababa. His return to Kinshasa is scheduled for Tuesday. This Monday, he had planned meetings with his African counterparts. Early in the morning, he had already met Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. He also had a tête-à-tête with Alpha Condé, President of the Republic of Guinea.

Several other meetings are planned. He then had talks with South African Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, first vice-president of the AU, and Rwandan Paul Kagame, former president of the pan-African organization and currently rapporteur and 4th vice-president of the AU.

DRC Media reports that the meeting with the last two Presidents had an important symbolic significance. The two should be part of the African Union delegation that was expected to come to Kinshasa before the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the final results of the presidential election on December 30, 2018.

ACTUALITE.CD reports that Kagame and Tshisekedi exchanged for about an hour, including bilateral relations between Rwanda and the DRC.

The two Presidents appeared smiling after their meeting for which nothing has released yet.

The Congolese president has once again exchanged with Uhuru Kenyatta, his Kenyan counterpart. He also met Verónica Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile and current UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
