U.S Senior Diplomat to visit Rwanda for Business, peace and security talks

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – 28th February, 2019) US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Tibor Nagy will highlight Washington‘s commitment to the nations of Africa during an upcoming trip to the continent with stops in Europe, the US Department of State said in a press release on Thursday.

“Nagy will travel to Belgium, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), France, Rwanda, and Uganda from March 4-22, 2019,” the release said. “He will promote stronger business ties between the United States and Africa, engage Africa‘s vibrant youth, strengthen partnerships that aim for greater peace and security, and reinforce the United States‘ commitment to the people and nations of Africa.

During his stops in France and Belgium, the assistant secretary is set to discuss with his counterparts and media representatives Europe and America’s shared objectives for African security, prosperity, and self-reliance, the State Department said.

During his tour in Africa, Nagy will meet with local government officials and will discuss a range of issues including regional stability, combatting corruption and the response to the Ebola outbreak in DRC, among other topics, the State Department said.
