Rwanda launches 100 Days of Genocide Commemoration with Flame of Hope
Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, First Lady Jeannette Kagame, EU and AU Commissions Chairpersons have launched the 100 Days of Commemorating the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi by lighting the Flame of Hope at Kigali Genocide Memorial.
President Kagame and Jeannette Kagame were joined by Heads of State & Government from Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Djibouti, Niger, Belgium, Canada, Ethiopia, as well as African Union and European Union Commissions Chairs
President Kagame, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of African Union and H.E. Jean-Claude Juncker, President of European Union Commission and other invited guests also laid wreaths on the burial place
Also to lay the wreath were other head of States and Governments from various countries around the World, International Organizations, and diplomatic corps among many others.
At the Flame of Remembrance, officials were surrounded by young Rwandans aged 25 years old.
Twenty five years have gone since Rwanda lost over one million Tutsi in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
