Rwanda’s PM Speech for the inauguration of Nzove I Water Treatment Plant and the upgrade of Nzove II

Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Edourard Ngirente has officiated at the Inauguration of New Nzove I Water Treatment Plant and the upgrade of Nzove II.

The Inauguration took place on Monday 6th May 2019. Below is the Speech delivered by PM Ngirente at the ceremony.

  • Honourable Ministers,
  • Your Excellency, the USA Ambassador to Rwanda,
  • CEO of Culligan International East Africa and Central Asia (EACA),
  • Government Official, here present,
  • Our Development Partners,
  • Distinguished Guests,

Good morning. It is indeed a great moment for me to join you today, at this official inauguration of the New Nzove I Water Treatment Plant, and the upgrading of Nzove II. This inauguration is yet another milestone in our vision to scale up clean water to all Rwandans.

  • I would like, first, to acknowledge the role of all Government institutions and our partners for having made this great achievement possible. I want also to thank Culligan International East Africa and Central Asia (EACA) that implemented this project.
  • The inauguration of new Nzove I Water Treatment Plant and the upgrading of Nzove II are a major milestone in providing access to clean drinking water to our citizens. This is very important for the residents of the City of Kigali who have been experiencing the shortage of clean water, especially those living in Nyamirambo and Gikondo sectors.
  • As I have mentioned, our ambition is to scale up clean water to all households. In order to attain this goal, the Government will continue to increase its investments in construction and extension of the water supply systems in the City of Kigali and other cities. This requires the involvement and commitment of both the Government and our development partners in water sector, as well as our citizens.
