Rwanda: Villagers build themselves a stadium worth over Rwf 52 million

The inhabitants of the Kiziguro Sector in the Gatsibo District have implemented what President Paul Kagame constantly reminds us that the people must find solutions in themselves and not always expect everything from the outside. .

They have just completed an invaluable initiative, that of the construction of a Football Stadium, whose cost is more than 52 million frw.

For Mupenzi Léon Pierre, Acting Executive Secretary of the Kiziguro Sector, this stadium is worth more than a stadium because the inhabitants of the Rubona Cell where it is located called it “Liberation Stadium”, and it was among the contracts of performance of the Sector, exercise 2018/2019.

Kwitonda Emmanuel, on behalf of the population, recalled that they had previously built a health post, before tackling the construction of the stadium.

“We started building it in July, under an overwhelming sun, but we persevered. We have deployed a lot of energy. The Acting Executive Secretary of the Kiziguro Sector has helped us a lot, “he said.

The Mayor of the District, Gasana Richard, highly appreciated this work realized thanks to the unity, the will and the strength of the inhabitants of only one Sector, a work of such a high value.

“You deserve congratulations. I am convinced that this Stadium built by the inhabitants of only one Sector is the first in Rwanda. And because you called it “Liberation Stadium”, I would like the next “Liberation Day” to be celebrated at the same Stadium, “he said.

All speakers stressed that this Stadium has cost them a lot of energy and therefore they will protect it properly.

Gapiya Aloys, one of the inhabitants of Kiziguro, wished that this example could convince them that they can break free from the chains of poverty and invited everyone to practice sports regularly at their stadium.

“A blow to the population of the Sector! You have concretized the adage according to which the union is strength, and responded at the same time to the call of the President of the Republic: the solutions are found in ourselves!” , he added.
