Rwanda: China grants $ 42.8 million for extension of Prince House Road in Kigali

(Agence Ecofin) – The Rwandan government has signed a $ 42.8 million loan agreement with China for the extension of the 10.3 km “Prince House” road along the Remera-Nyandungu road. Masaka, in the capital Kigali.

The agreement was signed on 18 June at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in Kigali between Claudine Uwera, Minister of State for Economic Planning and the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, RAO Hongwei.

The “Prince House” road is mainly used by freight trucks, which explains the major traffic jams. The expansion project involves converting a two-way road into a four-lane road to decongest the road.

The project will not only facilitate traffic but also provide access to Masaka Hospital, Kigali Special Economic Zone, Kigali International Airport and several institutions along the route.
