Rwanda: USAID celebrates the end of Rwf 22.8 billion Agriculture Project (PHOTOS)

Kigali, 26th June 2019: The USAID has celebrated the completion of its funded Private Sector Driven Agricultural Growth Project (PSDAG) after five years of its implementation in Rwanda.
PSDAG was a five year Rwf 22.8 billion project whose objectives were to increase investment in agriculture, to increase farmers ’incomes and to advance the Government of Rwanda’s Vision 2020 goal of “transforming agriculture into a market-oriented, competitive and high value sector.”
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Rwanda’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Michel Sebera said “The Government of Rwanda is very thankful to the U.S Citizens who have supported the growth of Agribusiness in Rwanda through PSDAG.”
The Project has increased investment in Rwanda’s Agriculture sector by 24.6 billion Rwandan Francs.
It increased domestic and export sales by 63.8 billion Rwandan Francs and helped agribusiness to obtain over 23,7 billion RWF in loans.
The Closing celebration was attended by over 250 people, including representatives from USAID, the U.S Ambassador to Rwanda, Peter Vrooman, officials from the Government of Rwanda and more than 30 private enterprises.
Apart from remarks by various officials, also there was a sideline exhibition of Made in Rwanda products developed, thanks to the support of PSDAG.
The event also held a culinary contest featuring locally produced and processed foods from Rwandan businesses that partnered with PSDAG.
