Israel ambassador to Rwanda Ron Adam has lauded the mechanism put in place by Rwanda Governance Board to foster citizens-centered governance. He made the remarks as he paid a courtesy visit paid to RGB on Monday 22 July 2019.
The Israel ambassador was received by Ag. Chief Executive Officer of RGB Dr. Usta Kaitesi. Their conversation focused on exploring areas of collaboration in the governance sector in order to cement cooperation between Rwanda and Israel. Dr. Usta Kaitesi briefed him about different mechanisms that RGB has put in place in order to foster citizens participation and accountable governance, including the annual Citizens Report Card and various service delivery assessments conducted in public, private sector as well as the civil society.
“Our model of governance is people-centered and we have chosen to be accountable to ourselves. In that perspective, the country has set a target that in 2024, citizens’ satisfaction with service delivery will be 90%. It is therefore the responsibility of RGB to consinstely monitor and inform the country on how we are performing toward achieving that target. “Said Dr. Usta Kaitesi.
The Israel envoy extremely appreciated the government responsiveness to citizens by giving them a voice in the governance process.
“I really appreciate how the government cares about citizens’ satisfaction and surveys conducted by RGB to measure that. This something that we should learn from you” underlined Ambassador Ron Adam
