Louise Mushikiwabo meets Former SG of OIF in Paris

Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs Louise Mushikiwabo has expressed gratitude to Abdou Diouf, who was President of Senegal and the second Secretary General of La Francophonie a post he exercised from 2002 to 2014.

In Paris, this Wednesday, Louise Mushikiwabo had very constructive conversations as written on her Twitter account, showing that she had “very interesting meeting with President Abdou Diouf tonight in Paris. As part of my candidacy for La Francophonie, I am honored to be able to benefit from his valuable advice and 12 years of experience at the head of the OIF.”

Abdou Diouf, former president of Senegal, takes up his duties as Secretary General of La Francophonie in 2002. He was elected to this post by the Francophonie Summit in Beirut (Lebanon), then re-elected in 2006 by the Bucharest Summit (Romania).

A third three-year term was conferred on him in 2010 by the Heads of State and Government meeting at the Montreux Summit (Switzerland).

The Rwandan Foreign Affairs Minister is one of the candidates for the head of the OIF in the upcoming elections.

French President Emmanuel Macron has recently said that he has all his support to the Minister Louise Mushikiwabo who was accompanying President Paul Kagame during a working visit in Paris last week.

Louise Mushikiwabo, 57, is a Rwandan politician who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda since 2009. She also serves as Government Spokesperson. She was previously Minister of Information.
