KIGALI: UGHE and RCHA launch their two years partnership in research on heritage conservation

This partnership that was officially launched on October 12th, 2021, is aiming at sharing information and experience between University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) and Rwanda cultural heritage Academy (RCHA) in order to better preserve the heritage of Rwanda.

Amid the two years of partnership, the two sides, UGHE and RCHA will collaborate on research, education, and public engagement initiatives, with a focus on the links between environmental health, human health and animal health, and global health equity in general.

Referring to the main reason for the agreement, The director General of RCHA, Amb. Robert MASOZERA pointed out that both sides have something in common, especially in the field of research on different issues.

He said: “We found that we share a lot in the research sector, which is why we chose to work together to share the experience each side has. So mostly we are going to be working together especially in terms of exhibitions and exchanging information about what we will be getting out of the research.”

He continued saying that “In these two years of the collaboration, we will start at the Museum of Environment in Karongi district, but it can also be expanded to other palaces we have around the country, but especially the next place is the Arts Palace because the University has a friendly way of using it. and art in medical and health education”

On behalf of the management of UGHE University, Rogers Muragije, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administrative and Financial Affairs, thanked the RHCA for agreeing to work together, and pointed out that there is much to come out of this agreement all together for the betterment of global health.

He said: “We are going to be collaborating in number of ways, first of all a museum is a hub of research so we think as university, there is a lot we can do with them.”

“Some of the things that we are going to be working on together, one of them is that we are going to be doing exhibitions and research with them in advancing global health”

The UGHE’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor continued by saying that “Through the university’ ONE HEALTH department, we are going to be telling people the linkage between human health, animal health and environment health. There is a lot that we are going to be working on and this is the first project but a number of other projects are also to be coming up in future.

At present, the Rwandan Cultural Heritage has already given University of Global Health Equity, a room in the Karongi Museum and the room will serve to exhibit different activities related to research on human, animal and environmental health.
