Western Province Governor Met Families to be relocated from High-Risk zone in Rubavu

The Governor of the Western Province Habitegeko Francois, accompanied by the Mayor of Rubavu District and security forces, on Friday, 7th January 2022, held talks with representatives of 120 families who will be relocated to the model village of Muhira.

In his remarks, Governor Habitegeko wished them a Happy New Year and reminded them that the COVID19 is still there so that they should continue to abide by the prevention guidelines while at the same time participating in the ongoing vaccination program.

The residents of Butotori, Buharara and Tagaza villages have pointed out to the authorities their concerns including land titles, how they will continue their agricultural and livestock activities, their existing properties among others

Governor Habitegeko explained to the citizens that the project was conceived in the good interests of people to ensure that they have a secure place to live in.

Commenting on concerns of the rights to the land and the new houses to be relocated to, the Governor assured them that they will continue to have rights to their lands and new houses adding that the administration will assist them to improve their agricultural and livestock activities.

After discussions and demonstrations on where to relocate, the residents thanked the good Leadership for the protection of their lives. They also visited the area where the residents will be relocated from to find out how the area will be rehabilitated ant turned into an agricultural place after relocating the citizens to a safer place
