China to donate 4 million doses of COVID 19 Vaccines to Rwanda

China will donate a total of 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Rwanda in 2022 to support Rwanda’s vaccination program.

Chinese Ambassador Rao Hongwei informed Hon. Vincent Biruta, Foreign Affairs Mister of Rwanda, the plan during a phone call yesterday.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Rwanda has been working with the Chinese Government in terms of testing kits, treatment and vaccination deployment.

In August, China donated the first batch of 200,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine that have been used to vaccinate Rwandans, contributing to the Rwandan government’s target of vaccinating 60 percent of its population to protect them against the virus.

Last year also Rwanda received 300,000 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine as second batch from China.
