Celebrating Rwandan resilience at the Kigali Genocide Memorial

Hosted by the Aegis Trust at the Kigali Genocide Memorial on December 14th, Marisol Touraine – President of UNITAID and former French Minister of Health – celebrated the resilience of the Rwandan people in the Memorial’s guest book.

“From my visit to Rwanda and to the memorial, I will remember the resilience of the Rwandan Nation and its people, who after experiencing the horror were able to rebuild themselves,” her message translates.
Acknowledging the role of France in 1994, she continues: “France has recognized its responsibility in this tragedy and it is our collective duty to ensure that it never happens again. I address my thoughts to the victims of the genocide against the Tutsi, to their loved ones and to the youth of Rwanda who have the responsibilities of building the future of this beautiful country.”

Marisol Touraine was in Kigali for the 2nd International Conference on Public Health in Africa, organized by the Africa CDC and African Union.
