Baptist Churches in Rwanda in a joint move to make impacts together

The Baptist churches in Rwanda have announced their commitment to join forces in order to continue to contribute to the development of Christians and the country as a whole.

This was confirmed on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at a meeting that brought together the leaders of the Baptist Church on the African level, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Bishop Ndagijimana Emmanuel, the leader of the union of Baptist churches of Rwanda, said that the time has come for the Baptist churches working in Rwanda to unite and make impacts together.

He said, “In Rwanda we have about four Baptist churches: (AEBR) Association des Eglises Baptist au Rwanda, (UEBR) Union des Eglises Baptist au Rwanda, Reformed Baptist Convention church in Rwanda (RBCR), and CECA, Communaute des Eglise Chretienne en Afrique . So it’s time for all of us to join forces, work together and make more positive changes in the lives of our Christians and the country.”

This idea seems to be supported by other Baptist leaders in Africa, as Rev. Dr. Akanji, who heads the Baptist Church on the whole continent, said that this plan will be more productive than it was.

“We have seen how the churches in Rwanda worked together to prepare this meeting, it is amazing. We support the desire to unite all Baptists in one direction. We hope it will be more productive than it is now. ” Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji said that other African countries should learn from the good cooperation in the Baptist churches in Rwanda.

The head of the non-governmental organization department in the Rwanda Governance Board, Ms. Kazaire Judith, commended the leaders of the Baptist churches in Africa who came to hold meetings in Rwanda.

She also took the time to share with them the relationship between the churches and the government.

Here Judith returned to the law that requires pastors to have knowledge of theology, how to start a church and other documents required for the church to work well. She emphasized that these churches play a vital role in the development of the country

Ms. Kazaire Judith said, “Religious institutions are constant partners of the Government. They have a great role in the development of our country, because they have schools, clinics and they also provide jobs for many people.”

In addition to the meeting of the leaders of these churches on the African continent, there is also a training for pastors and other deacons this week.

The Baptists church has been around for many years in Rwanda. With more than 56,000 members, they run schools, hospitals and other activities.
