IRONMAN last week announced the global results for the IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® Athletes’ Choice Awards, highlighting the highest-scoring events in a variety of categories based on athlete surveys from all the 2022 IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® races from around the world.
Out of the 118 IRONMAN 70.3 series events that took place in 2022, globally, the IRONMAN 70.3 Rwanda race took top honors in Overall Satisfaction.
Results for the 2022 Global Athletes’ Choice Awards were gathered from post event surveys sent to all athletes who completed an IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 race. Surveys were based on a five-point satisfaction scale and encompassed multiple categories including: Most Recommended Race, Overall Swim Experience, Overall Bike Experience, Overall Run Experience, Overall Satisfaction, Overall Venue Experience, Overall Host City Experience and Post-Race Celebration Experience, among others. Nearly 65,000 total survey respondents gave feedback to decide the winners for each category of IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events, marking a major accomplishment for the winning events and their host communities.
The Athlete Choice Awards celebrate IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events that performed well and are voted by athletes in post-event surveys after their 2022 event.
Global EVents Africa’s Director, Bonita Mutoni expressed her gratitude to all the athletes who voted for the IRONMAN 70.3 Rwanda through a social media post on the IRONMAN Rwanda twitter page. Global Events Africa is the licence holder and organiser of the race that takes place in Rubavu.
This award was made possible with the partners and sponsors who shared a commitment to position Rwanda as the premiere destination for hosting international sports events while promoting the #VisitRwanda brand to the world.
Rwanda offers a variety of host cities like Rubavu, with a population and infrastructure that are more than capable to support international sport events of this magnitude.
The Athlete Choice Awards can help drive race selection and registration for top-performing events. This recognition is expected to attract more athletes to Rwanda for the IRONMAN 70.3 Rwanda triathlon happening August 5th in Rubavu and promote the country as a top destination for sporting events.
Visit Rwanda’s support has been instrumental in making this event a success, and the IRONMAN 70.3 Rwanda team looks forward to continuing the partnership and making the event an even greater success in the years to come.
