As part of environmental protection activities, Members of Don Bosco Gatenga Green Club have, on Thursday, 23rd March 2023, participated in the cleaning work where they collected plastic wastes and other non-Biodegradable wastes that degrade natural resources such as water, land and plants.

Most of these wastes are thrown into the water channel by the upstream population and end up spreading in the downstream part where they contribute to environmental damage in general.

Members of Don Bosco Gatenga Green Club use their spare time after class to collect the wastes and put them together so that they can be taken to the right place for handling.

It is in the framework of educating children to take responsibility for the protection of the environment.

“We always push every child at our football center to understand their responsibility in environmental issues. Today, we learned about differentiating rotting and composting wastes and storing it differently. We learned how non-biodegradable waste could damage the soil and plants” said one of the coaches.

The Don Bosco football school is now aiming to keep educating children on how they can also participate in the planting of trees and they aim to create an environment club in the near future.
