Hate Radio: award-winning co-production returns for Kwibuka 29

A new production of the award-winning play ‘Hate Radio’ by acclaimed Swiss theatre director Milo Rau is to be staged at the Battersea Arts Centre in London this April during Kwibuka 29 – the 29th commemoration period marking the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Running from 19th to 22nd April, the intensively researched play unpacks the dynamics of Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM) and the presenters who fronted it.

Armed with microphones, not machetes, their words of incitement to mass murder directly contributed to the speed and scale of the genocide.

The play was originally developed in 2011, with Aegis’ Executive Director Freddy Mutanguha and the team at the Kigali Genocide Memorial involved in co-producing it.

Tickets for the live production at Battersea Arts Centre have already sold out – but ‘pay what you can’ tickets are still available for the thought-provoking and insightful 52-minute Hate Radio drama documentary.

The Hate Radio drama documentary is available to stream on demand any time 19th to 22nd April via this link: https://bac.org.uk/whats-on/hate-radio-documentary/
