Save Dr. Kanimba Vincent

Dr. Kanimba Vincent is a gynecologist and obstetrician living in Rwanda. He’s been among the best gynecologists and has delivered many babies in the past.

On the 21st of February 2020, the day of Dr. Vincent Kanimba’s mother’s funeral, the 2nd tragedy stroke right after the burial, Kanimba could neither sit nor walk while leaving the cemetery. He was then rushed to the hospital where he had to undergo many tests to find the cause of this sudden muscle weakening.

He has been in and out of the hospital during covid and has not been able to go back to work ever since.

In April 2021, Dr. Kanimba Vincent flew to Belgium to undergo different Medical examinations including Dopamine Active Transporter (DAT) Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Computed Tomography (CT) Scan among others. The diagnosis was confirmed that he had Advanced Parkinson’s Disease and Diabetes (Type 2).

He has been undergoing treatment which requires him to foot a monthly bill between 1200$ and 1500$ for medicine like Neupro(Patches), Levodopa Carbidopa, Akineton, Galvu met, and Uni Diamicron among others and also routine hospital visits.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder that affects movement and can cause tremors, stiffness, and difficulty with coordination and balance.

Israel has made tremendous progress with treatment that produces significant relief of tremors and movement issues and helps people living with Parkinson’s to lead a better and normal life.

Dr. Kanimba will need to undergo surgery for it. The cost of treatment is approximately USD$117,350, about 175,000 Australian Dollars. Below is the breakdown of all the expenses in USD:

1. Deep Brain Simulation (DBS) – $44100

2. Consultation – $750

3. Investigation cost – $1500

4. Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan – $3000

5. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Scan – $4000

6. Dopamine Active Transporter (DAT) Scan – $5000

7. Tremor Removal – $35000

8. Reflexology, physiotherapy – $3000

9. Medicine – $10000

10. 7 days hospitalization – $1000

11. Flight tickets and accomodation – $10000 (For him & the person who will accompany him)
