Rwanda and Madagascar Forge Game-Changing Trade Partnership
The governments of Rwanda and Madagascar have signed an agreement on cooperation and facilitation regarding trade, investment, and other collaborations between the private sectors on both sides.
These agreements were signed on the morning of Monday, August 7,2023, at the Trade and Investment Forum between Rwanda and Madagascar. The forum was attended by the President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, who was in Kigali for a state visit.
The agreements were signed by Mrs. Clare Akamanzi, the CEO of the Rwanda Development Department, and Rakotomalala Lantosoa, the Director General of the National Economic Development Board in Madagascar (EDBM – Economic Development Board of Madagascar). Additionally, another agreement was signed between the Private Sector in Rwanda (PSF) and the Private Sector in Madagascar, focusing on the collaboration between both parties in terms of business.
The Head of Rwanda’s PSF emphasized the importance of cooperation between businessmen from Rwanda and Madagascar in order to maximize the business and investment opportunities that are available in both countries. PSF stated that these opportunities are especially prominent in sectors such as mining, information technology and communication, tourism, industry, among others.
