Unequivocal Call: MP Murora Beth Urges Gatsibo to Guard Unity and Reject Genocide Ideology

GATSIBO, Rwanda — Murora Beth, a Member of Parliament, urged Gatsibo residents and Rwandans to protect national unity and resilience.

Moreover, she warned that revisionism cannot deliver development, and the Genocide Ideology in Rwanda must not be revived.

She made the remarks while addressing residents during a three-day visit to Gatsibo by a delegation of female parliamentarians led by MP Christine Mukabunani, members of the Forum of Rwandan Women Parliamentarians (FFRP).

MP Murora emphasized that unity and resilience are the foundation for Rwanda.

Moreover, he called on citizens to remain vigilant against Genocide Ideology in Rwanda and similar risks.

“Rwandans’ unity and resilience must be carefully protected. They are the strong foundation upon which our country is built. We must continue discussing and reinforcing these values so that anyone who still harbors ideas of dividing Rwandans can be helped to abandon them,” she said.

She warned that people found promoting genocide ideology face serious consequences, adding that such thinking also undermines their own prospects for progress.

“A person who holds ideas that divide people cannot achieve development either,” Murora said.

The legislator stressed that revisionism should have no place in Rwandan society.

Moreover, unity is essential to sustainable development and to overcoming poverty, ignorance, and Genocide Ideology in Rwanda.

“Revisionism is a battle that has already been lost. Anyone who tries to fight it cannot win; instead, it will destroy them,” she said.

She called on citizens to recognize that unity, resilience and overcoming past constraints are essential to achieving lasting development.

“These are the strengths on which our country stands as we continue our journey towards liberation from poverty, ignorance and other challenges that held us back in the past,” she added.

Residents welcome progress in public services

Augustin Ntawubonabyombi, a resident of Marimba Cell in Kabarore Sector, praised the Government of National Unity for providing public services without discrimination.

He said citizens can access services regardless of their family background or place of origin.

“We appreciate having a Government of National Unity that does not discriminate against Rwandans. Anyone who needs a service receives it without being asked whose child they are or where they come from. They are served as Rwandans,” he said in an interview with MUHAZIYACU.

Ntawubonabyombi also highlighted improvements in infrastructure, including roads, electricity and access to clean water.

He recalled that accessing clean water had previously been a major challenge in his cell but said the situation had improved considerably.

“In the past, getting clean water here in our cell was a serious problem. Today, we have basic services such as clean water and electricity. Although these services have not yet reached everyone, we hope they will soon be available in the remaining areas, as the authorities have assured us,” he said.

National unity remains a shared responsibility

According to the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE), Rwanda’s national unity index has reached 95.3 per cent, reflecting progress in efforts to strengthen unity among citizens.

However, sustaining these gains requires continued commitment from every Rwandan, including efforts to combat revisionism, genocide ideology and other actions that threaten national cohesion.

The ministry’s reported figure underscores the progress made in rebuilding unity, while the messages delivered during the Gatsibo visit highlight the importance of protecting these achievements and ensuring that unity remains a foundation for Rwanda’s long-term development.
