Superworld partners with reforestation non-profit One Tree Planted
LOS ANGELES, California April 22, 2021 – SuperWorld, the Augmented Reality (AR) and virtual real estate platform, today announced a partnership with One Tree Planted that aims to plant 5,000 trees for landscape restoration over the next month alone. For every plot of virtual land purchased between now and May 31st, SuperWorld will plant one tree to help drive sustainability efforts across the globe.
“Working with One Tree Planted is ideal for SuperWorld,” said SuperWorld Co-Founder and CEO Hrish Lotlikar. “Our vision is to help build a better world, and a move toward greater sustainability is a critical part of our business model. Team SuperWorld is dedicated to giving back to the environment and helping to stem the climate crisis, and this partnership gives us and our users the perfect opportunity to affect real change in the world.”
Objectives of this new partnership include:
- Supporting global reforestation efforts
- Empowering real world action through the digital landscape
- Increasing awareness of blockchain’s climate impact
Diana Chaplin, Canopy Director at One Tree Planted, adds: “While SuperWorld creates an exciting digital experience we are happy to be a reforestation partner to make a tangible positive impact by planting trees in the real world! These trees will contribute to cleaner air, water, and biodiversity, supporting a healthier future for nature.”
The partnership also hopes to reinforce SuperWorld’s commitment to the climate, and to steer users toward exploring, creating, and discovering AR content that not only entertains, but educates, and serves as a catalyst to help worldwide efforts to combat climate change, hunger, poverty, and inequality.
On average, a single adult tree can absorb and sequester almost 50 pounds of carbon every year that goes toward reducing the effects of climate change. Reforestation is consistently identified by scientists as one of the top solutions to the climate crisis and the trees planted as part of this partnership will support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
