BREAKING NEWS: Torrential downpour floods houses in Rubavu

In Rubavu District, Western Province of Rwanda, heavy rain and torrential downpours flooded houses in Bugoyi and Umuganda cells, destroying the walls of 10 houses, TOP AFRICA NEWS reports on Sunday, 23 January 2022.
The occupants have since been evacuated and accommodated by neighbors.
Some of the victims have tried to remove the equipment in their houses even though it was raining.
According to Gisenyi Sector authorities, the flood destroyed several houses belonging to residents. Also roads have been eroded by heavy waters that failed to pass in the existing channel leading to overflowing into residents’ houses.
Local and security forces are still intervening in the situation.
