Promethean and ASC provide interactive displays to enhance Rwandan school’s pedagogy

Promethean, a leading global education technology company, has donated five of its ActivPanel interactive panels to an all-girls secondary boarding school in Rwanda, to enhance its curriculum and better connect students with others around the world.
The Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology was founded to educate and empower Rwanda’s young women to reach their full potential. It currently houses more than 280 students of diverse social economic backgrounds, with most students receiving financial aid.
The school’s approach to technology centres on engagement, connectivity, and collaboration, and staff receive ongoing training to ensure teachers and students are armed with the knowledge of the latest innovations to support the curriculum. Staff at the school also regularly share training and best practice with other schools across Rwanda, acting as a benchmark for tech provision – something the Promethean ActivPanel will be used to support.
“The Gashora Girls Academy is setting new standards across Rwanda for its use of technology, and how it enables students to achieve their ambitions,” said Hugo Dantas, Head of Sales Education Portugal & Sub-Saharan Africa at Promethean. “As the world’s number one brand for interactive panels*, the ActivPanel will play a key part in not just the success of the school’s pupils, but its wider reputation for producing some of the country’s future leaders. We look forward to playing an ongoing role in helping deliver new possibilities to staff, students, and other Rwandans, too.”
The five ActivPanels being donated by Promethean, and installed by its partner, Automated Systems Consulting (ASC), will be deployed throughout the school, as a significant upgrade to its existing provision of basic whiteboards. One of the screens will be fitted to a portable stand, meaning the technology can be used in every classroom in the school, maximising its impact amongst students. The school will use the ActivPanel to build on its ongoing coding syllabus, integrate more online learning opportunities, and improve presenting capabilities in classrooms. It will also help the school achieve its Microsoft Certification and enable students to connect with peers from around the world.
“We’re excited to bring the Promethean ActivPanel to The Gashora Girls Academy because we believe the technology will have a significant impact on the quality of education and the learning outcomes of the students,” said Andy Numa, CEO at ASC. “The ActivPanel is a powerful tool for teachers to deliver engaging and interactive lessons and for students to explore, discover, and create in a digital environment that fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We’re looking forward to introducing Promethean’s award-winning products to other schools in the country and the region.”
ASC, a trusted Promethean partner for over 15 years, is completing the ActivPanel installations in Rwanda and will provide initial orientation training to ensure the technology is effectively adopted. Promethean and ASC’s Rwanda-based team will continue to work together to provide ongoing training to ensure that the ActivPanel is used to its full potential, enhances education, and improves learning outcomes at the school.
“Our students are the future scientists, entrepreneurs, advocates, and thought leaders the world needs. Technology will play a vital role in ensuring they can reach their full potential long after graduating from our school,” said Atete Rugege, Head of School at The Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology.
“We’re grateful to Promethean and ASC for enabling us to take the education of our students – and so many others in the country – to the next level. The digital tools and immersive experience of the ActivPanel will simplify and elevate our ability to knowledge-share with other schools across Rwanda, helping deliver on our vision of making education a fundamental right for all.”
