Rwanda Records Strong Rise in 2025/2026 PLE Pass Rate

Kigali, August 20, 2026 — Rwanda has released the 2025/2026 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) and Ordinary Level (O’Level) results, with officials describing overall performance as encouraging.

Minister of State for Education Claudette Irere launched the live announcement at the Kigali Conference & Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali). NESA Director General Dr. Bernard Bahati presented district rankings.

Early figures show a PLE pass rate of 88.21% among approximately 277,593 candidates — a clear improvement from 75.6% the previous year. Boys recorded 89.59% while girls achieved 87.1%.

Rwego Mutijima Bruno Licky of École Internationale La Racine in Bugesera District topped the national PLE rankings with 99.6%. Thirteen outstanding students (seven from PLE and six from O’Level) are receiving awards.

Results are now accessible online at https://rne.sdms.gov.rw/ or by SMS to 8888. The outcomes will determine secondary school placements ahead of the new academic year in September.
