Building Skills for Success: ACTEC Project Offers New Short Courses for Graduates at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School
Following the success of last year’s short courses in Welding, ICT, and Pastry and Bakery, where students learned skills such as bread and cake making, graduates who have completed their studies at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School and hold a certificate of completion are now eligible to enroll in additional courses.
These courses will be offered during the upcoming holidays in July, 2024.
Last year’s cohort saw 50 trainees completing their formation in Welding, Pastry and Bakery as well as ICT. Among them 52% were female.
According to Mr. Jean Claude, the ACTEC Project Coordinator at Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School “The testimonies so far indicate that students who completed training last year as part of the ACTEC project are now excelling in their respective domains.”
He added that “This training has equipped them with the necessary skills to perform various tasks at their workplace.”
Since its establishment of Don Bosco Muhazi TVET school over 800 students have received certificates from Don Bosco Muhazi TVET School which offers courses in Culinary Arts, Masonry, Tailoring and Literacy and Numeracy programs.
“For instance, a student who studied Masonry can now also work on windows and doors due to the welding training they received through ACTEC Project.” Mr. Jean Claude added.
Thanks to the Support of ACTEC Project, this year’s training will consist of short-term courses lasting 2 months, including Welding, Pastry and Bakery, ICT, Plumbing, and Electricity.
The training is part of the ACTEC 2022-2026 Program co-financed with the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD).
