The DD Karuse Foundation’s Heartfelt Gift: Supporting Talented Children from Pueri Cantores Mutungu

By TOP AFRICA NEWS Reporter

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the DD Karuse Foundation generously donated to children from Kanaba Parish in the Diocese of Ruhengeri, recognizing their extraordinary singing talent that has captivated audiences worldwide. The donation was inspired by a social media video featuring a child named Dushimimana Alex, a 7 year old whose beautiful voice deeply touched many—including the foundation’s members.

These children are members of the Pueri Cantores Mutungu Choir in Kanaba Parish in Burera District. In response to their talent, the foundation donated school supplies—including school bags filled with educational materials—to 40 vulnerable children from the choir. The organization, founded by Karuse Ishimwe Delice and Derrick Abimana Karuse, with support from their mother, Ingabire Marie Ange Claudine, also committed to supporting five children’s education by paying their school fees.

The foundation plans to continue their partnership with the choir, which primarily consists of children from low-income families. The five children whose school fees will be covered will also receive mentorship to help them pursue their studies in religious institutions—boys in seminaries and girls in nunneries—based on their academic performance and personal aspirations.

The event to honor the Pueri Cantores Choir, featuring Dushimimana Alex, was attended by various choir groups, including both children’s and adults’ choirs. Kanaba Parish Priest Father Providence was among the attendees, emphasizing the significance of nurturing young talent.

In her remarks, Ingabire Marie Ange Claudine, mother of the foundation’s founders, expressed her admiration for Alex and the other children. “Alex was the trigger that made us come to your parish, but seeing all the children was truly inspiring. I personally love children very much,” she said. “Someone from the USA saw Alex’s video and told me, ‘I found a very talented singer you will love.’ When I watched the video, I was moved—especially by Alex’s emotion—and I knew I had to see these children in person.”

She continued, “Seeing a child like Alex, wearing a simple school uniform and shoes, singing to the Lord, makes all of this meaningful. What you do is important, valuable, and seen by the Lord.”

Dushimiman Alex’s mother, Nzariturande Jenesta, expressed her gratitude to the foundation. “I thank the benefactors who support my child’s education. May God bless their actions,” she said. She also shares her own talents in the adult choir at Kanaba Parish.

Commenting on the charitable activities, Ms. Karuse Ishimwe Delice, co-founder of the foundation, shared her heartfelt feelings. “I feel blessed and happy. God has helped me accomplish many things,” she said. “We promised to support five children—two boys and three girls—to continue their education through secondary school. It’s a blessing to have God involved in everything I do.”

She explained the motivation behind their support: “We were inspired by a social media video of children singing. Many overlook children’s talents, assuming they will develop later or choose different paths. But their voices moved us deeply — what they do reflects genuine feeling. That’s why we decided to visit them and see if what we observed online matched reality. When I arrived and saw their performances firsthand, I was mesmerized—these children possess more talent than their videos reveal.”

The foundation provided notebooks, pens, and school bags to 40 children to aid their education, hoping to foster further growth and achievement. “Helping isn’t about having a lot; it’s about sharing even a small part of what you have,” Ms. Delice added. “Giving just a little can help someone accomplish much and can be a blessing to others.”

So far, the foundation has paid school fees for 86 children. With this new support, the total will rise to 91. In addition to schools fees, they distributed school supplies to 40 children today, emphasizing their commitment to nurturing future leaders.

The message to supporters and potential donors is clear: “You are not just helping us, the founders. You’re helping the future of these children and, ultimately, our nation. Increasing the number of children you assist means investing in people who will shape our country’s future.”
