President Kagame Holds Bilateral Talks with Macron Amid Regional and Global Challenges

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda held high-level discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday. The meetings centered on strengthening bilateral relations, regional stability, and addressing global issues affecting both nations and the broader region.
France, a key participant in ongoing diplomatic efforts, is actively involved in talks aimed at easing tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The dialogue seeks to foster peace and cooperation, especially in light of past disagreements and regional instability.
This visit marks President Kagame’s return to France since October 2024, when he attended the Francophonie Summit.

In addition to diplomatic meetings, President Kagame is attending the highly anticipated football match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Arsenal on Wednesday evening. The event is part of the “Visit Rwanda” campaign, which both teams are promoting to boost tourism and cultural exchange between Rwanda and international audiences.
The visit underscores Rwanda’s active engagement on the international stage, as the country continues to seek strategic alliances to address regional challenges and promote sustainable growth.
