The event was attended by high-ranking officials from the Rwanda Defence Force and Rwanda National Police in the Northern Province, and they were welcomed by the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs in Gakenke District, Marie Thérèse Uwamahoro. She commended the security organs for their continued contribution to improving citizens’ livelihoods.
She stated, “We appreciate the invaluable support you always offer us not only by ensuring security, which is your daily responsibility, but also by participating in community development activities. We promise to work with the residents to safeguard these trees so that they produce the intended benefits.”

She emphasized that the trees will help protect the land where the model village is being developed and will provide shade and environmental benefits in the long term.
“We will continue raising awareness about the importance of trees, so every resident takes pride in maintaining them and enjoys their benefits as they mature,” she added.
The security organs, in turn, praised the local community for their involvement in self-security initiatives and encouraged them to maintain the strong collaboration, emphasizing that security is the foundation of all development.
Their participation in activities that promote citizen welfare continues to build public trust, as highlighted in the annual governance survey by Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), which showed that the pillar of security and public order scored the highest with 90.02% this year.
