World Rally Championship Safari Rally Rolls Off in Kenya’s Naivasha

Kenya’s Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki has on today (March 12th) officially flagged off the WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2026 at the Wildlife Training and Research Institute (WTRI) in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
Government has established a water tight security of 1050 officers and 400 marshals to secure the rally.
Competitors will have to navigate the 20-stages for four days before a winner will be announced. This is the sixth edition of the Safari Rally since its return to the WRC.
The Principal Secretary for Sports, Elijah Mwangi said, “the Government has put in money and provided the relevant environment required for this this to happen.”
Action in the WRC Safari Rally 2026 started with the event Shakedown at the brand new 6.31km Nawisa stage on Thursday morning from 0800H local time (+3GMT) before the cars return to WTRI for the ceremonial start at the event Service Park from 1500H.
From there, they will tackle the opening two competitive stages, Camp Moran 1 (24.35km) and Mzabibu 1 (8.86km) to get an early introduction of what this year’s event has to offer.
