Botswana and Zimbabwe Edge Closer to Passport-Free Border Agreement

Diplomatic talks between Gaborone and Harare have reached a critical stage as both nations push to eliminate passport requirements for their citizens.

This ambitious initiative aims to replace traditional travel documents with national identity cards, significantly streamlining the flow of people and goods across one of Southern Africa’s busiest borders.

Proponents of the shift argue that removing these bureaucratic hurdles will revitalize regional trade, reunite families divided by the border, and bolster the tourism sectors of both countries.
