Rwandan Female Journalist Awarded for best reporting on Environment

Marie Chantal Nyirabera, a Rwandan female Journalist and owner of Rwanda for You Magazine was awarded by the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) for her outstanding contribution towards the Environmental conservation.
Nyirabera scooped the “Environmental Award 2019’’ for Media category in which other two media practitioners were also awarded.
In an Interview with TOPAFRICANEWS after the award ceremony, Nyirabera said “Being awarded shows that what I do is very important for my country and Rwandans.”
She explained that ” The main objectives of Rwanda for you (R4U) are to facilitate Rwandans and foreign visitors to have knowledge on Rwanda natural beauty and to inform them where to enjoy Rwandan attractions and Rwanda Beauty. “
Nyirabera worked for various Media Houses in Rwanda and later in 2014 decided to invest her Journalism focus in the Environmental Conservation.
She first established Rwanda For You news website and later put in place Rwanda for You Magazine which focus on conservation and Tourism as well.
ABOUT Environment Awards 2019
The Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Environment Management Authority presented the 2019 Environmental Awards for projects and initiatives that focus on air pollution management.
The awards recognise best practices and innovation in beating air pollution by districts, small and medium sized companies in the private sector, higher learning institutions and technical and vocational education and training schools, as well as the media.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment Fatina Mukarubibi said “The awards highlight initiatives by different sectors to improve air quality and encourage them to keep up their efforts.”
Mukarubibi urged the winners in all categories to continue with their innovations as the country continues to scaling up the efforts to mitigate Air Pollution.
The “Environment Awards 2019” was organized by REMA as part of the celebration of World Environment Day under the theme “Beat Air Pollution”
Winners have demonstrated best practices and innovation on Air pollution.
