HOPE OF FAMILY, a local NGO operating in Muhanga District, Shyogwe Sector has donated radios and mobile phones to 77 more beneficiary families to facilitate them have access to information as well as sharing daily updates among its beneficiaries. HoF also gave them solar power bank and home light.
Such charity activity took place last week on 6 June 2020 at Hope of Family Head Office which is located in Shyogwe Sector, Kinini cell.
The donation followed the previous one, the same of its kind, which took place in 2019 when 23 family beneficiaries were donated the same kits.
According Mfateneza Emmanuel, the Executive Director of HoF, “the donation is timely since children are still remaining at Home due to the COVID 19 pandemic, henceforth, they will be able to follow radio learning programs aired on regular basis to help students in a lockdown across the country.”
For parents, mobile phones will ease their communications between family members as well as between parents and teachers in case of follow up to their children’ education.
Child’s school also will be able to call parents in case of the discussions regarding the student.
Hope of Family is also advocating for access to smart phones among beneficiaries since Smartphone is the best tool that will not only ease the smart communication but also enabling the real and timely project monitoring among beneficiaries from down to top level and vice versa.
The primary goal of Hope of Family is to promote parental involvement in their children’s education while improving families’ socioeconomic status.
Families and Hope of Family staff agree on the contract terms to sign in order to effectively support their children and raise their school performance.
Parents agree to visit their children on the weekly basis, provide more after-school time for their revision, respond sooner to teacher’s or any other school leader’ invitation to discuss about the child’s learning.
The donated kits will help HoF to achieve some of the objective mentioned above.1108
