Rwanda: Government urges agencies to use no more than 15% of the workforce, while others work remotely
The Rwandan Ministry of Public Service and Labor, MIFOTRA, has asked government agencies to use no more than 15% of employees at Workplace while other employees can work from home.
The Ministry also demands an immediate list of those who will work at the office and those who will work from home
The Cabinet meeting on January 4, chaired by the Prime Minister, Dr Edouard Ngirente, decided that in the private and public sector the number of employees working in the office should not exceed 30% and others should work from home to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
In line with this decision, on January 6, 2021, Mifotra issued a letter urging government agencies to use no more than 15% of the staff at the workplace.
The letter reads: “Based on the findings of the Ministry of Health and the findings of the Cabinet meeting held on January 4, 2021, after noting that the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, we would like to inform you that the activities of the the government continues, but each level of government is required to use 15% of the total number of employees, while others work from home. ”
The letter called on government agencies to make a list of those will be working from home.
Mifotra demanded that the list be made public so that all staff members could see it and that the agencies that came to monitor the implementation of these decisions would see it.
