Eng. Steven Niyonzima, CEO of Cleaner Production and Climate Innovation Centre has passed away. May his Soul rest In Peace

A statement from the centre read as follows:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our CEO, Eng. Steven Niyonzima.

Eng. Steven died of illness on September 17, 2021, surrounded by family and loved ones. We join his family and loved ones during these hard times to mourn with them. We offer our heartfelt condolences and wish them strength. May his Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.

Eng. Steven Niyonzima was a dedicated man who was loved by all and loved everyone. He was always happy to help. He committed his entire career to the promotion of cleaner production, resources efficient and eco-innovation. He is the pioneer of RECP Programmes in Rwanda, going as far as 2005. In 2008 when the government of Rwanda established the Rwanda Resources Efficient and Cleaner production Centre RRECPC, Eng. Steven was duly appointed as the Centre’s National Coordinator. He steered the work of the Centre to great success until April 2019 when the Centre was merged with the Climate Innovation Centre to create the Cleaner Production and Climate Innovation Centre (CPCIC). Again, Eng. Steven was duly appointed the Ag. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of this new Centre until his sudden death.

Funeral arrangement will be communicated by his family in due time.
