Rwanda hopes for CHOGM’s resumption

Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has promised that the CHOGM summit will be held in Rwanda next year after Covid-19 has twice delayed it.

The CHOGM meeting was scheduled to take place in Rwanda on 22–27 June 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

The Meeting was later scheduled to June 2021 but again postponed due to the persistence of the pandemic

In a press conference on Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Vincent Biruta, said that talks to resume the meeting are ongoing between Rwanda and the Commonwealth.

“We have now started negotiating with all the member states to reach an agreement on the new dates; ” Dr. Vincent Biruta, Rwanda’s MFA, told the media on Monday.
