Rwanda, India in talks on cooperation in the vaccines production initiatives

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Vincent Biruta and the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs, Vellamvelly Muraleedharan held talks to see together how the country can help Rwanda in its vaccines production initiatives.

The talks which took place on Monday, November 15, 2021 in Kigali were aimed at reviewing the state of relations and cooperation between the two countries and what can be done to improve the situation.

On both sides it was attended by various leaders including those working in the field of foreign affairs.

Minister Biruta said the talks took place in order to continue to look at the state of relations between the two countries.

He said Rwanda and India have good relations and mutual support in terms of health, agriculture and energy.

India is the first country to have provided Rwanda with 50,000 COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Biruta added that Rwanda also has been looking at various projects together to see how they can be implemented.

In a bid to see where the two countries can help each other, Minister Biruta said they discussed a number of issues, including India’s assistance to Rwanda in its special program to launch various vaccines production initiatives including vaccine for COVID-19.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Shri V. Muraleedharan, commended Rwanda for facilitating today’s talks after it was postponed due to COVID-19.

He said his country would continue to work for good relations with Rwanda.
