Zimbabwe’s businessmen and women have been invited to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which will take place in Kigali starting from the week of 20 June 2022.
The Zimbabwe Business community was invited on Monday during the opening session of Zimbabwe-Rwanda Trade and Investment Conference which is taking place in Harare.
Speaking at the conference, Zephanie Niyonkuru, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board reminded that in June of this year, Rwanda will be hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, commonly known as CHOGM, and it will have different sessions and forums.
“From business point of view, I would like to invite the members of the private sector of Zimbabwe to the Commonwealth business forum or CBF. It will start on June 21 up to June 23. And the key themes of the forum will include innovation and digital economy, sustainability, open markets, financing, growth, health skills, and the future of work.” Niyonkuru said.
The Business Forum will feature participants including heads of states, business leaders, private equity firms, venture capital funds, banks, among others. Registration will be starting soon.
“We will be live with registration in less than a week. And we’ll be working with ZimTrade with our high commission here to make sure that the members of the private sector from here are facilitated to register and we look forward to hosting you in Kigali.” He added.
CHOGM was due to have been held in Kigali in June 2020 but has been postponed twice due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theme for CHOGM 2022 is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.’ Leaders will discuss how to deliver the things which were discussed at CHOGM 2018 in London, which was on the theme ‘Towards a Common Future’.
