Greening the City: The Meeting Between Rwanda’s New GGGI Representative and Kigali’s Mayor
As the new GGGI Country Representative for Rwanda, Caroline Raes this week paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of City of Kigali, Mr. Pudence Rubingisa to discuss strengthening collaboration on green urbanisation.
During the meeting, they discussed implementing projects involving circular economy initiatives in various sectors, sustainable mobility and other green growth initiatives.
The meeting with the Mayor was an opportunity for Caroline Raes to introduce herself and discuss the work of GGGI in Rwanda.
They discussed the importance of green growth in the City of Kigali, and the potential for collaboration between GGGI and the City to support the implementation of green growth initiatives.
Caroline Raes highlighted the importance of circular economy initiatives in various sectors, including waste management, and urbanization. She also discussed the potential for sustainable mobility initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in the city.
The Mayor of City of Kigali expressed his support for the work of GGGI and expressed his commitment to working with GGGI to accelerate green growth in the City. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development.
