Kigali Announces Inaugural International Festival: “Kigali Triennial”

On February 12, 2024, the City of Kigali Administration announced the inaugural International Festival of “Kigali Triennial,” set to take place in Rwanda from February 16 to 25, 2024. The Mayor of the City of Kigali, Dusengiyumva Samuel, expressed his delight in hosting this cultural festival aimed at fostering global collaboration in the arts.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Kigali Triennial to our beautiful and pristine city,” Mayor Samuel stated. “We encourage all residents to actively participate in this festival, as there will be a multitude of programs catering to diverse interests.”
The Kigali Triennial will mark Rwanda’s first-ever hosting of such a cultural event, attracting over 300 artists from 25 countries worldwide. The festival promises to showcase more than 60 performances, ranging from dance and music artists to fashion shows, drama, cinema, literature, and more.
This grand celebration is organized through a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Arts, the City of Kigali, and Rwanda Arts Initiative. Its primary objective is to provide a platform for artists to display their talents and works while putting Rwandan art on the global stage, further solidifying Rwanda’s position as a hub for cultural creativity.
Beyond the captivating performances, the Kigali Triennial Festival will also serve as a platform for discussions, workshops, and courses, facilitating connections between professionals and participants alike.
