Luxembourg and Rwanda Unveil Waste Valorization Facilities at Nduba

In a momentous occasion, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Republic of Rwanda unveiled waste valorization facilities at Nduba, marking a significant milestone in their collaborative efforts towards sustainable waste management.

The event, attended by dignitaries including Xavier Better, Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg, and Dr. Valentine Uwamariya, Minister of Environment of Rwanda, showcased the culmination of three years of hard work and collaboration between public, private, and civil society organizations.

The waste valorization facilities at Nduba are part of the Waste to Resources project, which aims to transform waste into valuable resources through innovative and pilot interventions. The project not only focuses on installing infrastructure but also on raising awareness, strengthening capacity, enhancing policy, and creating economic opportunities.

During his speech at the unveiling ceremony, Caroline Raes GGGI Rwanda Country Representative expressed gratitude to key partners such as the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda, the City of Kigali, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Biodiversity of Luxembourg for their support in making the project a success.

Looking ahead, the focus will be on finalizing the facilities, adjusting operations, refining business models, and ensuring sustained operations once GGGI exits the project. The goal is to continue working towards a more circular approach to waste management in Rwanda.

The event was a celebration of the achievements made so far and a reminder of the work that lies ahead in building a greener and more climate-resilient Rwanda. The collaboration between Luxembourg and Rwanda serves as a testament to the commitment towards sustainable development and environmental conservation.
