As the Communication and Membership Officer at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Rwanda, Habimana is redefining how science is communicated across the continent, inspiring a new wave of informed and engaged audiences.
Habimana’s work focuses on “bridging the gap between science and society, turning knowledge into action for a sustainable future,” emphasizing that “science is the language of progress — and Africa’s voice must be loud, clear, and heard worldwide.” His innovative approach combines storytelling, digital media, and strategic partnerships to elevate Africa’s role in global environmental conversations. Through his efforts, local communities better understand the importance of conservation, climate action, and sustainable development. “Effective communication bridges the gap between science and society,” he affirms, making complex issues accessible and relevant.
Currently, Habimana is also set to graduate with a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Rwanda, further honing his skills and deepening his understanding of effective strategies. His academic pursuits complement his practical experience and position him as a leader who “blends theory and practice seamlessly.”
