Congo: Mushikiwabo first visit after being elected head of the OIF
Two weeks after her election as Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Rwandan Louise Mushikiwabo began a tour through the African countries that supported her to thank them.
First step: Congo-Brazzaville where she arrived Wednesday, October 31st. In front of the press, she spoke of the place she intends to reserve for Central Africa and her country of origin during her mandate.
Less than twenty minutes after her flight from Paris, Louise Mushikiwabo had exchanges in a VIP lounge of Maya-Maya airport with the Congolese Minister of Defense and the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs .
Responding to the press, she acknowledged the role played by Congo before and during her election.
In the Congo Basin area, she made promises that she wants to keep during her term beginning in January.
“For me it is this area of Central Africa; this area of the Congo Basin to which I will be very attentive in my functions and my mandates. You will see me very often, “she said.
As for her country Rwanda, she intends to give it a place of choice in the Francophonie.
“It is clear that in carrying out my mandate my country will not be excluded. My country is a multilingual country. The importance of the French language – of course – will be a priority, “said Ms. Mushikiwabo.
