DRC Election: Martin Fayulu appointed as unique opposition candidate

The leaders of the Congolese opposition have appointed this Sunday, November 11, 2018, the deputy Martin Fayulu as the unique candidate for the presidential election in December, and was announced officially after three days of intense negotiations in Geneva, reports local DRC magazines.

The seven leaders of the opposition, Moses Katumbi, Jean-Pierre Bemba, Vital Kamerhe, Freddy Matungulu. Felix Tshisekedi, Martin Fayulu, and Adolphe Muzito managed to agree on the name of the candidate who will represent them all in the presidential election, after a few hours of a closed session.

Gathering since Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, the seven main leaders of the Congolese opposition have managed this Sunday to agree on a joint candidacy for the presidential election of 23 December after long negotiations.

According to Jeune Afrique, with the facilitation of the Kofi Annan Foundation, the opposition leaders gathered in a room from 10 am Saturday, November 10 until 1 AM this Sunday, November 11.  “They were able to face each other and tell each other the truths,” stressing that “it also allowed them to advance well in their talks.”
