“Sustain what we have achieved”-RPF Youth Urged

The Young Generation of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) is called to sustain what the country has achieved so far while working hard for a better future.

The Call was made on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Kinyinya Sector of Gasabo District where hundreds youth convened in the Sector’s RPF Youth Congress organized as a part of the annual events during which young members come together to interact on what have been achieved and tipped on future programs.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Aime Muyombano, a Researcher as well lecturer at various University in Rwanda, named, at least four guiding principle that may lead RPF Youth, which include: Sustaining Rwandan identity, Joining hands for the same cause, being active and learning from the past to build a better future.

Dr. Muyombano said “RPF Inkotanyi is aware of the role of youth in building Rwanda”, adding that “In whatever we do we should make sure that youth are not left aside.”

Referring to the fact that 67% of Rwandan population is youth, Dr. Muyombano said “The country is doing whatever possible to have in place a young generation that Rwanda deserves.”

Muyombano was giving a session on Vision 2050 in which four essential and interdependent drivers of future growth for the country will include innovation, integration, agglomeration, and competition and they are seen as very critical for the country’s economy in the future.

“As the history of our country has shown, it began with the ethnocentrism driven politics fortified by the colonialists and therefore we had the Genocide committed against the Tutsis in 1994”, Dr Muyombano said.

“But today RPF has done what is possible to bring all Rwandans together and walk the same path towards the sustainable development while starting with the youth.” He added.

However Muyombano said that there are key challenges that RPF is facing today and that justifies the need for strong measures to confront them.

“We have a growing number of youth spoiling in drug abuse, we have young girls carrying premature pregnancies, so there is a need to work together to end these problems.” Dr. Muyombano concludes.

At the end of the day RPF youth in Kinyinya sector vow to tighten work so that RPF Youth remains the Engine of the National sustainable development programs.
