AGL launches its first multidisciplinary Expertise Center in Kigali to strengthen its operational efficiency
AGL, a major transport and logistics player operating in 51 countries, 47 of which in Africa, has announced the launch of AGL Expertise Center, the first multidisciplinary centre of expertise covering services for the entire AGL network. Building on its experience with its IT centres in Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa, AGL is picking up the pace with the installation of this strategic hub that embodies a new approach: bringing together operational expertise, structuring a highperformance pan-African model and supporting the group’s growth across the continent.
An operational hub serving the AGL network in Africa
Located in Norrsken Kigali, the largest co-working space in East Africa (12,000 m²), the AGL Expertise Center centralises key functions for all of the group’s subsidiaries. Designed as an extension of the headquarters, it directly helps to improve operational efficiency and standardise best practices across Africa.

The centre embodies African excellence by bringing together talent from all over the continent and is already home to several areas of expertise:
- Compliance (third-party auditing)
- IT services (cybersecurity, helpdesk)
- Finance (internal auditing)
- Communication (video studio)
- Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE)
Legal, HR (recruitment, training, HRIS) and Sales Logistics functions are currently being deployed at the centre.
A talent pool for world-class operations
Beyond its operational mission, the AGL Expertise Center has a powerful ambition: to train and develop African professionals to international standards.
Employees benefit from a structured environment that fosters upskilling, with prospects for growth within AGL subsidiaries across the continent. The aim is to build a talent pool for the entire network and to contribute to Rwanda’s and Africa’s influence as sources of professional excellence. Local recruitment is prioritised, with a long-term target of 80% Rwandan employees and 20% panAfrican profiles. To achieve this, AGL has established academic partnerships with Carnegie Mellon University Africa and African Leadership University.
Kigali, a priority hub for regional cooperation
Choosing Kigali was a strategic decision. Rwanda benefits from sustained economic growth, a positioning as a regional hub for East Africa and a dynamic academic ecosystem, with more than 30 universities and 90,000 students from over 40 countries. The country’s business environment is also recognised for its stability, efficiency and ambition to become an upper middle-income economy by 2035.
