Pivotal DNA Evidence and Child Access Ruling in Idrissa–Vestine Case Oct 28
Idrissa–Vestine Case Update
Kigali, October 21, 2026 — Kicukiro Primary Court heard a petition filed by Idrissa Jean Luc Ouedraogo against his wife, gospel singer Ishimwe Vestine. The petition was filed in the Idrissa–Vestine Case and asked for a DNA paternity test before any divorce actions. The court noted the request could influence custody and related financial matters.
Moreover, details of the petition indicate the couple separated recently, and the move aims to establish biological paternity evidence for the proceedings. Officials did not set a date for a final ruling while the test is conducted. The case remains a focus for followers of the family court.
Ouedraogo is seeking confirmation of whether he is the biological father of the child the couple is said to have had together. He has also requested that the court allow him to see the child.
The hearing was held in private, limiting public access to the full details of the arguments. Moreover, this context is relevant to the Idrissa–Vestine Case.
According to information obtained by IGIHE, one of the contested issues concerned photographs of the child. While Ouedraogo is reported to have already received at least one photo, he asked for additional images. Vestine’s lawyer countered that the question of photographs was not among the matters properly before the court in this application.
On the DNA test itself, Vestine’s side indicated willingness for the test to proceed.
However, they requested samples from the child be sent to Rwanda Forensic Institute for comparison with Ouedraogo’s samples.
Additionally, this was proposed under the Idrissa–Vestine Case.
They also asked that all costs be borne by Ouedraogo, the petitioner.
Additionally, in the Idrissa–Vestine Case, Ouedraogo, for his part, asked the court to order that he travel to Canada.
He sought to travel to Canada to give his DNA sample for comparison with the child’s.
Additionally, the court will deliver its decision on the DNA test requests on October 28, 2026.
Moreover, the Idrissa–Vestine Case guides its approach to access to the child.
The petition arises from ongoing divorce proceedings initiated by Vestine earlier this year. The main divorce case remains scheduled for hearing on December 3, 2026. Ouedraogo has maintained that he has never met the child and seeks both clarity on paternity and access, while Vestine has previously cited other grounds for seeking to end the marriage.
